Treat Your Heating System to a Professional & Precision Tune Up Each Year!

1.      Having a gas boiler or furnace means that you have a live fire in your house. All of us want that fire to burn safely and is properly controlled. But, dirty or plugged burners, a cracked heat exchange, a worn out gas valve or a filthy pilot can easily make that fire unsafe.

2.      Older furnaces or boilers do not have the safety devices to turn off an uncontrolled flame. Flames can also be distorted and ruin heat exchangers. On newer furnaces or boilers the safety devices need to be checked yearly for proper operation.

3.      A clean boiler or furnace will save you money on your gas and electric bills. Boilers may have circulating pumps and inducer motors. Furnaces have blower motors and often inducer motors. That is 2 motors running each time the heating system starts up.

4.      When air filters are not changed often, dirt accumulates on the blower wheel. That dirt creates a drag on the blower motor; making the motor work harder. Inducer motors and wheels also need to be checked. Circulating pumps need to be properly oiled, to ease operation.

Remember: your heating system works harder than your car or truck. It will cycle somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 times this season. Even if the winter is mild, the system will start, stop and run longer than if you took your car to California and back to Chicagoland twice this winter.
Would you even consider driving a 1984 car to California? What if your car is 30 years old?

Save on gas bills with 3 quick tips:

  1. Lower your thermostat by 2 degrees and save 3%.  However, do not put your health at risk. Wear warm layers of clothing.

  2. Reduce the hot water temperature on your water heater to 140 degrees.

  3. If you have a fireplace, be sure that the damper is closed when the fireplace is not in use. Heated air will flow directly up the fireplace chimney when the damper is open.

Our special rates include the first hour of cleaning. Additional work, units, repairs, filter media replacement, humidifiers, cleaning electronic air cleaners and refrigerant will be charged extra.

You Can Reduce Your Energy Bills with More Efficient Units

Heating:
Replace an older furnace with a new gas furnace, increase your AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency*) rating and save big money on your heating bills. Older units can have AFUE ratings as low as 60%, compared with 78%, 80%, even 94+% with a new unit. The math is very simple: the more fuel you convert to heat, the lower your fuel bill. Your savings: check the numbers below:

Heating Efficiency AFUE

Approximate Annual Operating Cost

60% $400 $500 $600 $700 $800 $900 $1,000
65% 365 460 550 640 735 825 915
70% 340 425 510 595 675 760 845
75% 315 395 470 550 630 710 785
80% 295 365 440 515 585 660 735
90% 255 320 385 450 515 580 640
95% 240 305 365 425 485 545 605
*AFUE is the total heating output in BTUs (British Thermal Units) during a normal annual usage period for heating divided by the total fuel input in BTUs during the same period.
To Use This Chart: Estimate the approximate heating efficiency of your current furnace. If it’s more than 10 years old, the efficiency is likely to be about 60%. Then estimate your annual heating cost, based on your total fuel bill, eliminating the cost of other fuel  use. Then use the chart to estimate how much you can save with a higher efficiency system.
Example: If your current furnace is 60% efficient and your annual operating cost is $700. the cost to operate a tiew 93% AFUE system will be between $425 and 450, giving you an estimated annual savings of approximately $250.
