Air Conditioning: As R-22 (Freon®) is being phased out, you need to
consider the potential problems associated with using 410A refrigerant.
Ø 410A refrigerant operates at higher pressures and uses a
different lubrication.
Ø Refrigerant lines may need to be replaced because of
inadequate size, soft soldier connections, incompatibility of oil (lubrication) and /or leaks.
Ø Concealed or inaccessible refrigerant lines can create
problems.
Ø Physical size of the new condensing unit and evaporator
coils needs to be considered, but most manufacturers are slowly resolving this problem.
Ø Federal Energy Credits are only available for the higher
efficiency 410A units.
Ø Replacement of special types of condensing units in
closets or under decks can be restricted to brands and sizes of available condensing units now on the market.
If you know you might have one of the above problems, you need to talk to us to
determine your possible solutions before R-22 units are completely off the market.

Furnaces: Federal Energy Credits are available for the higher
efficiency furnaces.
Ø The variable speed motors found in 80% 2 stage furnaces
may be given a tax credit.
Ø All 90% plus efficient furnaces have very specific venting
requirements. Some buildings simply cannot meet those requirements.
Ø The chimney may need modification after the installation
of a 90% plus furnace, since only the hot water heater will still be using the chimney.
Ø Replacement of furnaces in closets or other confined
spaces can be restricted to brands and sizes of available furnaces now on the market.
